Serving Our Guests | 12.16.18

On December 16, Love Gives Ministries had the pleasure of serving homemade chili and cornbread to our guests at Hurt Park, Atlanta. We also distributed winter clothing, toiletry items, and lots of hugs!

Volunteer Spotlight: Pam

LGM_Pam 1.jpeg

Today we would like to spotlight our good friend Pam, who we’ve known since 2007. She graciously volunteered her time to prep and serve food with us several times and through her experiences she saw that the service Love Gives Ministries (LGM) is committed to providing to the homeless population of Atlanta goes beyond serving food. She saw that our homeless friends also need everyday items, such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, lotion, lip balm, socks, deodorant, soap, and many other items.

Her epiphany lead her to coordinate a “Soap-a-thon”, as she called it, on behalf of LGM. She emailed all of her friends and family to ask them if they would donate hygiene items or monetary gifts and we’re sure you know where this story goes!

During the month of October, donated items started rolling into LGM. These donations helped us distribute 100+ hygiene kits to the homeless of Atlanta on Thanksgiving weekend. What an incredible service Pam provided for our friends!

Pam, this Thanksgiving we couldn’t be more grateful to you for your heart of service and being a dedicated volunteer with us. We love you!

Donald's Story

Meet Donald. Donald lives on Ellis Street in Atlanta, literally on Ellis Street in front of a public parking lot. Loves Gives Ministries met up with Donald in March of 2018 while distributing food to the homeless in the area.

We asked Donald, "Why live here by yourself and not in community with other homeless people?" His response was "I wish God would have given me the wisdom earlier in my life to live separated, it might have kept me out of a lot of fights."  Donald showed us his Bible and shared with us that his relationship with God was very important to him and that he often fasts to seek God's direction in his life.

Donald also told us that all he wants is a clean place to sleep at night that he can call his own. He said that he receives $400 a month of government assistance but can't find a place for that small amount of money. He concluded by saying "as for anything else, I have all I need."
